Water + Urban Communities

Surviving Oyster Ark
By Rachel Leighson Directed by Ann Kreitman Starring: Dana Jackson, Leo Merrick, Izabella Paz
During a storm surge, three roommates attempt to stay afloat in their flooded apartment while they debate their differing approaches as to how to make meaningful change in a complex world. Matters complicate when one roommate begins exhibiting symptoms of severe food poisoning after consuming contaminated oysters meant for scientific research.

Black Mayo
By Samekh Resh Directed by Nora Hurley Starring: Chloe Chappa, Parker Jenkins, Kamau Nosakhere
Three friends gather at the receding bulkhead of the Newtown Creek to mourn the ecological loss in the neighborhood and reckon with one friend’s decision to accept a job with the “enemy” oil company.

Snapping
By Steven San Luis Directed by Nicky "N" Maggio Starring: Skylar D'Andrea, Sophia Marilyn Nelson, Shilpa Raju
Using magic realism and a spoken word structure, Snapping pulls from the urban legend of alligators living in New York City sewers to challenge how people relate and connect to urban nature.
