Join us for a one-day workshop exploring environmental themes, questions, and research in playwriting. The afternoon opens with a talk by Kate Douglas on approaches to environmental writing, followed by live readings and feedback sessions with selected participant playwrights.

Three playwrights will be selected to have an excerpt of their work read aloud by actors and receive focused feedback from Kate. Writers at all career stages, working across a wide range of approaches to environmental writing, are encouraged to apply.
Submit a 15–20 page excerpt and a bit about yourself by September 22nd, 11:59pm EST for consideration. Selected playwrights will be asked to purchase a sliding-scale playwright participation ticket of $150–$200.

About Kate
Kate Douglas is a writer, performer, and composer creating work about how our outer landscapes impact our inner landscapes. Recent work: The Apiary (NYT Critic’s Pick, Outer Critics Circle Award nomination), My Dog is Dead(Ancram Center for the Arts) and hag with Grace McLean (Vivace Award). She is the recipient of the Jonathan Larson Award for music & lyrics and the Next Forever Commission (Princeton University, The Civilians). She has been awarded residencies at SPACE on Ryder Farm, Swale House on Governors Island, Rhinebeck Writers Retreat, Millay Arts, and Goodspeed Musicals, among others. Alum of the Dramatists Guild Fellows Program, Colt Coeur, The Civilians R&D Group, GTG Speakers Corner, and The Orchard Project Greenhouse.
